Gala 23/24: All The World's A Stage

We invite you to join us for All the World's A Stage: Celebrating the US/UK Relationship on Monday, April 15, 2024, at The Anthem. This unique relationship has endured over the centuries, reflected in our common language, ideals, and democratic practices, and Shakespeare has had an outsized, ongoing influence on all three. Hosted by Honorary Chair The British Ambassador, Dame Karen Pierce DCMG and Sir Charles Roxburgh KCB and led by STC’s internationally acclaimed Artistic Director, Simon Godwin, we are bringing together artists, leaders, and corporations from both sides of the Atlantic for a night of fellowship, inspiration, and fun. Internationally acclaimed actor Indira Varma will be honored with the William Shakespeare Award for Classical Acting (aka “Will Award”), presented to her by Tony Award-winning actor Ralph Fiennes, her co-star in STC’s production of Macbeth, which will be playing in Washington April 9 through May 5. Celebrated actor John Lithgow will receive the STC Lifetime Achievement Award. STC will also present the theatre’s inaugural Sea Change Award to someone who has made an impact on theatres. Former congresswoman and President of the Harman Family Foundation Jane Harman will present the award. The evening will also feature performances by Broadway’s Jordan Donica, fresh from his Tony-nominated performance as Lancelot in Camelot and the BBC’s Katty Kay as the evening’s emcee.
