American Wildflowers: A Theatrical Field Guide

American Wildflowers: A Theatrical Field Guide

November 15

Wildflowers are a paintbox that has vibrantly illuminated America’s natural and cultural landscapes for centuries, and through the diverse voices of celebrated poets and essayists, language has brought to life this connection between plants and people. Based on a newly published anthology, American Wildflowers: A Literary Field Guide, this collection of theatrical readings is directed by Simon Godwin, Artistic Director of the Shakespeare Theatre Company. Participating readers include Susan Barba, editor of American Wildflowers: A Literary Field Guide; poets David Baker and Devin Johnston; and actors Renea Brown, Shanara Gabrielle, Yesenia Iglesias, Shubhangi Kuchibhotla, and James Whalen.

This special event is produced by the Oak Spring Garden Foundation. Copies of American Wildflowers: A Literary Field Guide, edited by Susan Barba and illustrated by Leanne Shapton, will be available for purchase.
