YOU'RE INVITED TO THE WEDDING OF KATHERINA AND PETRUCHIO
Walking down F Street, you can see the Harman is bustling. Umbrellas and twinkling lights are visible through the glass from the street, and in front of the doors musicians are serenading patrons and pedestrians. As you walk into the lobby to get your tickets from the Box Office, you notice an artist leading a workshop and a group of novice painters wielding brushes.
Making your way up to the orchestra lobby, you emerge into a lively piazza: patio tables and chairs, paper lanterns and colorful bunting, and stalls selling handmade goods, fine clothing and gift items. Actors in costume mill around, chatting with audience members. An actor approaches and welcomes you to the celebration and to Piazza d’Amore, an artisan market. You smile and walk over to the bar to enjoy a glass of wine and browse the shop stalls.
A short time later, you find your seat in the theatre and the performance begins. At intermission, the audience is invited to join the party on stage, an intermezzo with live music performed by the acting company. After the show, some of the cast come out to share a drink with the audience in the lobby. Though the performance on stage has ended, you decide to stay for a while and talk to the actor who greeted you before the show. It’s been a very memorable evening of theatre.
