Pericles, Prince of Tyre – ACA Rep

The Academy for Classical Acting’s 2018 Repertory Season is underway!

Pericles, Prince of Tyre, directed by Alec Wild and Jef Awada, and Julius Caesar, directed by Cameron Knight, run from June 18th – June 30. Thrilling movement and original music coalesce amidst Shakespeare’s poetry to create two worlds in conversation.

Shakespeare’s Pericles, like his other late plays, speaks to the themes of family, redemption, forgiveness, and reconciliation. And it’s also a lively and buoyant adventure story that touches on experiences both soaring and sordid – love, sex, friendship, incest, loyalty, betrayal – as Pericles, Prince of Tyre, finds his fate inexorably intertwined with the Mediterranean Sea.

Julius Caesar likewise explores timeless ideas of friendship, loyalty, and betrayal amidst political upheaval. And it’s also a thrilling, cerebral play of intrigue, investigating where personal ambition and the ideals of Rome diverge, as Brutus and Marc Antony make their stands.
