Will on the Hill

For two decades, a bipartisan cast from Congress and other political VIPs performs a light-hearted skit inspired by Shakespeare each spring to support arts education while exemplifying the values of collegiality and civic engagement.
“Each spring, members of Congress and the media are invited to show off their acting skills (or lack thereof). To play or not to play, that is the question.” — NBC Washington

“I would suggest putting “Will on The Hill” on your calendar for next May if you want to enjoy a fun night in the theater, see members of Congress act silly intentionally, and help bring Shakespeare to the young people of greater Washington.” — The Washington Blade

Mock Trial

“A Washington wonk’s dream.” — THE NEW YORK TIMES

Legal issues permeating the work of Shakespeare have inspired STC’s popular Mock Trials for almost three decades. Showcasing nationally acclaimed lawyers making their arguments before a bench of Supreme Court and other distinguished justices and a jury of audience members, the law has never been more fun!

Tickets to the event often sell out in minutes due to the legal talent on the stage, which over the years has included jurists such as U.S. Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen G. Breyer, Samuel Anthony Alito, Jr., Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Brett M. Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett, Ketanji Brown Jackson and the Honorable Suzanne Côté from the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as Circuit Judge Merrick B. Garland, Judge David S. Tatel, Judge Thomas B. Griffith, Judge Patricia A. Millett, Judge Cornelia T.L. Pillard, Judge Robert L. Wilkins, and Judge Douglas H. Ginsburg of the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
